About the event
The Government of Ukraine, the Government of Germany, and the United Nations will convene, on 10 May, a forum focused on fostering an inclusive community recovery across Ukraine. The forum, which will take place in Kyiv, is an official event in the lead up to the Ukraine Recovery Conference in Berlin, on 11 and 12 June.
Russia’s war on Ukraine, which dramatically escalated since February 2022, has caused immense human suffering, death and widespread destruction, shattering the economy and devastating communities across the country. According to the joint Rapid Damage and Needs Assessment carried out by the Government of Ukraine, the World Bank Group, the European Commission, and the United Nations, Ukraine needs US$486 billion over the next decade to ensure the reconstruction and recovery of what was lost can take place.
The event will provide a platform for dialogue and collaboration among government officials, civil society representatives, community leaders, national and international development partners. The objective is to ensure recovery efforts in Ukraine are community-driven, inclusive and take into consideration the specific needs of women, people with disabilities, minority communities such as the Roma and other marginalized groups.
Coverage opportunity:
Media representatives are invited to attend the event and cover the opening of the forum, from 1 pm to 1h30 pm, as well as discussions, and interactions taking place throughout the day. Interviews with speakers and participants can be arranged upon request.
Accreditation:
Media representatives interested in attending the Inclusive Community Recovery Forum are invited to send their accreditation request, including name, media house and contact, no later than 9 May at 5 pm, using this link.
