Secretary-General Reaffirms UN's Support to Ukraine in the Call with President Zelenskyy

The Secretary-General held a telephone call today with H.E. Mr. Volodymyr Zelenskyy, President of Ukraine.

The Secretary-General and the President discussed the latest developments, recent diplomatic efforts, and the impact of the war in Ukraine on civilians, including children.

 

The Secretary-General stressed the importance of sustaining the diplomatic momentum and reaffirmed the United Nations’ support for a full, immediate and unconditional ceasefire as a first step towards a just, comprehensive and sustainable peace, one that fully upholds Ukraine’s sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity within its internationally recognized borders, in line with the UN Charter, international law and relevant UN resolutions.

 

The Secretary-General also reaffirmed the commitment of the United Nations to continue to address Ukraine’s humanitarian needs on the ground and support recovery and reconstruction efforts.
